In “Ubuntu” we will follow Professor Jéssica, who will explore with her students several concepts related to the theme of Transformative Environmental Education. Since it is a comic book, they go beyond the classroom walls for a journey through time and space in the best style of Carl Sagan’s “Cosmos”. The idea is that the story will be a great immersive lesson where we will see not only through texts, but also through images, impactful events for the life of the planet throughout history, including the modern world.
After an introduction that questions how this crisis began and whether it is only environmental or also a crisis of social power, whether man is part of nature or above it, we will address topics such as: waste treatment, planned obsolescence, concentration of wealth, the harmonious relationship of native peoples with nature, the impact of great navigations and colonialism, the trafficking of enslaved people, the revolution of science and industry, the devastation of natural resources, extinction of species, the relationship between consumer society and the civilizational crisis and the profound environmental impacts.
